Granville Simpson Holt, Sergeant, Co. K, 6th NC Inf., born in Alamance Co., NC where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting in Alamance Co. at age 35, June 21st, 1861, for the war. Mustered in as Private and promoted to Corporal on Oct 1st, 1862. Promoted to Sergeant on Dec 1st, 1862. Wounded and captured at Rappahannock Station, Va. Nov 7th, 1863. Died in hospital at Washington, DC, Nov 9th, 1863, of wounds.
