Harry Jack Reckitt, 69, a retired Coast Guard Captain and a program manager at Lockeed Martin, died of cancer August 28, 2005, at Halquist Memorial Hospice Center in Arlington. He was a 22-year resident of Arlington, Virginia.
Captain Reckitt was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1957. He graduated in 1969 from the Armed Forces Staff College and received a master's degree in operations research from George Washington University in 1974.
During his 30-year Coast Guard career, he served aboard the Coast Guard cutters Rockaway, Active, Kimball and Midget. He also was deputy chief of readiness at Coast Guard headquarters before retiring in 1987.
He then joined Analytical Systems Engineering Corp. as a program manager. The company was later acquired by Lockheed Martin.
He served on the board of directors of his condominium and was an active Coast Guard Academy alumnus and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed running, history, learning about advancements in technology and travel.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Delphine Roberts Reckitt of Arlington; three children, Lisa R. Zaidan of Burke, Joy R. Woodman of Alexandria and Stephen C. Reckitt of Arlington; and four grandchildren.

On Sunday, August 28, 2005, of Arlington, VA. Loving husband of Delphine R. Reckitt; devoted father of Lisa Reckitt Zaidan, Joy Reckitt Woodman, and Stephen C. Reckitt; grandfather of Tamer, Zahra, Delynn, and Keith.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Fort Myer Chapel. Interment Arlington National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made in his name to Capital Hospice of Northern VA, or to the American Cancer Society.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
