Hayden was born on 30 September 1883 at Elizabeth City, Virginia, the son
of Edward Everett Hayden, Rear Admiral, United
States Navy, and Kate Reynolds Hayden. He served in the United States
Navy Medical Department. He was married to Belle H. Hayden, who died
on 8 November 1923. Captain Hayden died on 5 February 1952 and was
buried with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery.
