Robert G. Mitton, Sr. – Master Sergeant, United States Army

Robert G. Mitton Sr. was born in Ansonia, Connecticut on January 12, 1932.

He retired from the United States Army with over twenty years of dedicated service. His rank at retirement was Master Sergeant, E-8.

He was married to the former Iva Alma Victor. He had four children. Robert G. Mitton Jr, was his oldest son. Susan K. Mitton-Chapman, and Ruth Mitton-Dumas are his surviving two daughters. His youngest son, William Russell Mitton died at birth and is interred with him in Section 43 of Arlington National Cemetery.

He died of liver cancer at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. on April 20, 2002.

He was a great human being who now rests in his rightful place at peace in the most revered cemetery in the world (as far as I am concerned.)
