Robert Lyon Norton was born on November 18, 1933 and joined the Armed Forces while in West Hartford, Connecticut. He served in the United States Marine Corps. In 14 years of service, he attained the rank of First Lieutenant. On December 3, 1968, at the age of 35, Robert Lyon Norton perished in the service of our country in South Vietnam, Quang Nam. Lieutenant Norton was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, 30 awards of the Air Medal, two awards of the Navy Commentation Medal and the Purple Heart Medal. He was laid to rest in Section 46 of Arlington
National Cemetery, together with his crewmate Robert
