Robert M. Long, Lieutenant Colonel, United States Army (retired) passed away on March 28, 2003 in New Braunfels, Texas.

“Bob” graduated from John Reagan High School in 1949 and from the University of Houston in 1954. He proudly served in the U.S Army, serving in the United States, Europe and two tours in Vietnam, earning, among other things, the Bronze Star and the respect and friendship of those with whom he worked.

Bob was a quick wit, an avid tennis player and golfer, a Tex-Mex connoisseur and a good father. May he continue to see the humor and irony of our world, serve nothing but aces and make the green in regulation every time.

Bob is survived by his sister, June Wagner and husband Robert Wagner of Canyon Lake, Texas, his son Steven Long and wife Shelly Jordan of Oakland, California, Michael Long and wife Linda Long of Ashburn, Virginia, as well as grandchildren Mackenzie and Alexandra, and a great many friends.

Services and interment at Arlington National Cemetery commencing at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2003 at the Fort Myer Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice, 611 North Walnut Ave., New Braunfels, Texas 78130.
