Richard Stewart Hooker was a career United States Marine officer who served in World War I and then in China. He died in Shanghai, China, while in command of the 4th Marines. He entered the service as a Second Lieutenant, 17 February 1900.
Richard C. HOOKER (born about 1850, in New York, or possibly Ohio) married Bessie Stewart (born about 1855) (daughter of Senator William Morris Stewart from Nevada and Annie Foote)

Senator William Morris Stewart (born 9 August 1827 in Galen, Wayne County, New York; died 23 April 1909 in Washington D.C.

Annie Foote was the daughter of Henry Foote from Mississippi (served as both Governor and Senator)

Richard Stewart Hooker (born 13 February 1877 in California and died 25 December 1932 in Shanghai, China, while serving in the United States Marine Corps. He married Mary Osborn Condit-Smith (1876-1918), the daughter of John Condit-smith and Mary Louisa Day. Henry Stewart Hooker, born 21 September 1879 in Calfornia; died 19 May 1964.
Henry S. Hooker was a law partner and close friend of FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt.

Children of Richard S. Hooker and Mary Condit-Smith: John Condit-Smith HOOKER (1902-1948); Richard Stewart Hooker (born about 1906). Married for a second time on 15 April 1922 to Dorothea Willard (born about 1894 in
Mississippi, the daughter of Colonel Joseph H. Willard of Newport, Rhode Island.
