Richard Stewart Hooker was a career United States Marine officer who served in World War I and then in China. He died in Shanghai, China, while in command of the 4th Marines. He entered the service as a Second Lieutenant, 17 February 1900.

Annie Foote was the daughter of Henry Foote from Mississippi (served as both Governor and Senator)

He married Mary Osborn Condit-Smith (1876-1918), the daughter of John Condit-smith and Mary Louisa Day. Henry Stewart Hooker, born 21 September 1879 in Calfornia; died 19 May 1964.
Henry S. Hooker was a law partner and close friend of FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt.
