Born at Parkesburg, Pennsylvania, September 21, 1823 and died at Washington,
D.C., June 27, 1896.
"He Giveth His Beloved Sleep." He was buried with full military honors in Section 1 of Arlington National Cemetery. Kate Abbott Smith, the wife of Thornton Smith.
She died March 8, 1920 and is buried with her husband.
