Thornton Smith, Captain, United States Army, Assistant Quartermaster, United States Volunteers. Born at Parkesburg, Pennsylvania, September 21, 1823 and died at Washington, D.C., June 27, 1896.

“He Giveth His Beloved Sleep.”

He was buried with full military honors in Section 1 of Arlington National Cemetery.
