BEAL, WILLIAM, Private, Company G, 48th Regiment North CarolinaTroops.- Born in Chatham County where he resided as a laborer prior to enlisting in Chatham County at age 31, March 11, 1862. Reported present or accounted for in September-October,
1862, and January-June, 1863. Captured at Bristoe Station, Virginia, October
14, 1863. Confined at Old Capitol Prison, Washington, D.C., October 16,
1863. Died in hospital at Washington on January 19, 1864, of "erysipelas."
