Asa Williams, Private, Co K, 2 NC Cavalry, resided in Moore Co., NC where he enlisted at age 23, July 17, 1861 for the war. Mustered in as Corporal and reduced to ranks Nov-Dec 1861. Captured on Rapidan River, Va, Feb 7, 1864 and confined at Old Capitol Prison, Washington, DC where he died March 20, 1864 of typhoid fever.
