While Stephen Vincent Benet (the poet) is probably the best known member of this family, many others from this famous family are interred in Arlington National Cemetery. The poet's father, James Walker Benet, and his mother and sister are buried in Section 6. His grandfather, Brigadier General Stephen Vincent Benet, a former US Army Chief of Artillery, lies buried in Section 1 with other family members.
