The  Navy  Cross  is awarded to Corporal Charles Auer, United States Marine  Corps. Killed in action at Chateau-Thierry, France, June 6,  1918, Corporal  Auer  gave  the supreme proof of that extraordinary heroism which will serve as an example to hitherto untried troops.


Charles Auer, born July 17, 1894; died June 6, 1918.  From Klickitat County, Washington.
