Edwin
M. Truell was born at Lowell, Massachusetts, August 19, 1841, he earned
the Medal of Honor in the Civil War while serving as Private, Company E,
12th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry near Atlanta, Georgia, July 21, 1864.
The Medal was actually presented to him on March 11, 1870.
He died on October 12, 1907 and was buried
in Section 13 of Arlington National Cemetery.
Rank and organization: Private, Company E, 12th Wisconsin Infantry. Place and date: Near Atlanta, Georgia, 21 July 1864. Entered service at: Mauston, Wisconsin. Birth: Lowell, Massachusetts. Date of issue: 11 March 1870. Citation: Although severely wounded in a charge, he remained
with the regiment until again severely wounded, losing his leg.
