MAJOR GEORGE STONE DIES
Civil War Fighter Served in the War Department for Twenty Years

NEW YORK, New York, November 10, 1913 – Major George Stone, 78 years old, died suddenly of heart disease at the residence of his son, Louis Livingston Stone, 50 Way Avenue, Corona.

Major Stone was born in Missouri and during the Civil War was in command of Missouri Light Artillery in the Union Army.  After the war he was for twenty years in the service of the War Department at Washington.  He came to Corona three years ago when his wife died there.  His son is traveling in the South.

The body will be placed in a vault in the Cedar Grove Cemetery to remain until it is buried in the Arlington Cemetery at Washington.
