John Charles Palmer Bartholf (1891-1969) Born in Plattsburg, New York on October 26, 1891. B.A. from Harvard in 1913. Commissioned in the infantry in 1913. Transferred to the Aviation Section of the Signal Corps in 1916. Graduated from Command and General Staff School in 1925. Served in the Canal Zone 1925-1927. Instructor with the New York National Guard July 1934-August 1939. Duty with 29th Infantry 1939-1940. Professor of Military Science and Tactics at Drexel Institute September 1940-August 1942. Executive Officer at Headquarters of Third Army 1942-1944. Brigadier General in April 1943. Duty at Headquarters of Fourth Army December 1944 until retirement in October 1945. Died on September 22, 1969.
