James D. Bounds – Private, Confederate States of America Army

BOUNDS, JAMES D., Private, Company E, 38th Regiment, N.C. Troops. Born in Richmond County where he resided as a planter prior to enlisting in Richmond County at age 24, October 31, 1861.

Present or accounted for until captured at Falling Waters, Maryland, July 14, 1863. Confined at Old Capitol Prison, Washington, D.C., where he died on April 20, 1864, of “typhoid fever.”  [North Carolina Troops-A Roster 1861-1865, North Carolina Dept. of Archives and History, Vol. 10:50]
