John Finch born 5 April 1823 in Nash County North Carolina. He enlisted as Private 1 October 1863, 47th Infantry Regiment, North Carolina at age 40. He was a prisoner of war from 14 October 1863 at Bristoe Station, Virginia. He was confined at the Old Capitol Prison, Washington, D.C. on 18 October 1863 and died of disease there on 26 November 1863. He left a widow and 7 children.
