Bon in Sampson County and was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in Wake County at age 18, May 23, 1861, for the war. Wounded and captured at Williamsburg, Virginia, May 5, 1862. Hospitalized at Washington, D.C., where he died on May 20, 1862. [NCT 4:140]
