Colonel Jones died in 1922 and was buried under the name “Sam R. Jones” in Section 1, Grave 36, Arlington National Cemetery.

The Colonel’s son, Ivens Jones, died in a polo accident in 1923, was originally buried in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was reinterred in Section 9, Grave 5869 on 4 November 1941.
