William Frederick Halsey, Sr.

Born at New York City, April 11, 1853. He won the Sampson Medal and Bar, Spanish Campaign Medal, Philippine Campaign Medal, the Victory Medal and a letter of commendation from the Navy Department for services during World War I.

He died on June 11, 1920 at his home in Washington, D.C. and was buried in Section 2 of Arlington National Cemetery. His son, William F. "Bull" Halsey, is buried beside him. His wife, Anne Masters Brewster Halsey, is buried with him.
