William Claudius Churchwell, Jr. – Chief, United States Navy

Rank: Chief Aviation Ordnanceman. Place of birth: Hardwick, Georgia, 23 April 1925.

He died on 23 February 1963 while on active duty. His most  significant duty assignment was with Patrol Squadron 23, Air Development Squadron One, Key West, Florida, and Airborne Early WEarning Squadron Four (VW-4)
(also known as the Hurricane Hunters.

His military decorations included,  World War Two Victory Medal Good Conduct Medal, American Area Campaign Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and the Navy Occupation Service Medal.
